KIDPOWER TEENPOWER FULLPOWER Trustwww.kidpower.org.nzVision / Mission / GoalsMission : To help people of all ages and abilities learn how to stay safe, act wisely, and believe in themselves. Vision : To empower people with tools and skills to prevent or break the cycle of violence and abuse; and to overcome barriers to social, academic and personal achievement. Goals : To provide a wide range of upbeat effective community abuse prevention and self esteem building services. To create an international community of leaders who are dedicated to making high quality self-protection and confidence building programs widely accessible. To establish a long-lasting organisation to continue this work. Services : Our programmes cater for males and females of all abilities with experiential, strengths-based teaching and coaching methods. Each participant is individually coached in an emotionally and physically safe and supportive environment to take charge in uncomfortable and / or dangerous situations. Non-physical ‘Everyday’ skills are practised in role-plays. Physical 'Emergency' skills are practised in realistic yet safe scenarios with a head-to-to padded instructor. This has an astounding, positive effect and leaves a lasting body memory. What we currently do in the way of marketingAs a non-profit charitable trust, we minimise our advertising costs where ever possible to ensure our break even fees remain realistic. This supports our policy of not wanting money to be a barrier to participation for anybody who really needs safety and confidence training. Therefore we rely on strong networks of communities who are passionate about safety and well being of children and adults, to support us by raising awareness of our services, making donations, and by helping us to secure assistance of funding agencies. Our networks include schools and tertiary education providers, church groups, health and social service providers, professional bodies, local and central government agencies. We rely on community notices being shared amongst community agencies, and the occasional classified newspaper advert. Message to Students / How you can helpOur organisation is backed up by an international community of KIDPOWER organisations, with independent research showing the proven success of our methods. Since establishing KIDPOWER in New Zealand we have provided training to over 16,000 children, young people, and adults throughout the country. KIDPOWER Trust’s reputation is growing due to nation wide expansion of our services, and establishment of a satellite office in Auckland, plus nation wide support by the NZ Police Youth Education Service. We seek to raise awareness and share valuable personal safety and confidence messages with the community. A digital solution would enable us to effectively deliver that message via a person's preferred means of convenience - cellphone or internet. We aim to empower children and young people - a digital solution offers us the opportunity to do this by directly connecting with the individual. YOU have the opportunity to help address the potentially crippling effects bullying, harassment, violence and abuse can have on young people’s health, social and academic skill development. Our programmes represent a unique and innovative way of addressing self-esteem, self-confidence, and health and safety issues. |
