Vision / Mission / Goals

"With women, for women" ... to enrich the lives of all women and enhance their networks.

The Women's Centre-Rodney is a community based organisation offering support, resources, information, knowledge and skills to all women of the Rodney district. We provide a safe place open to all women in a confidential environment to come and find support or to link up with others. We work to develop projects and courses to fulfil the needs that arise from women within the community. We encourage women to recognise and exercise choice in developing their potential.

What we currently do in the way of marketing

We frequently advertise our courses on Times FM as they have a free community notice board, we have on occasion also used our local television station who also has free adverrtising for NPO's. We advertise our courses/grps once a term in the Rodney Times and in another local paper which has a free 'what's on' coloum. We have had several articles in our local paper over the last year with regard to events we have held at the Centre or in response to social issues. Members of staff also regularily attend community liasion meetings where we advise other NPO what we have running at the Centre at that time. We also send out fliers or information to diffeent agencies advising of courses/events etc and on occasion ask local schools and preschools to advertise in their news letters.

Message to Students / How you can help

Firstly we don't have a web-site which we feel would be of great benefit to our agency, as we are frequently asked if we do? This is because we have firstly not had the funding to set one up or the time and expertise to up-date this etc. We do now however have a member of our staff who has these skills.

We are also in the process of establishing a support programme for teenage mothers and are looking at ways of connecting with them, we also hope to attract younger women to use our other services also.
