Message to Students / How you can help
"Sustainability" is the current catch cry, but few understand the true depth, breadth and complexity of the challenge.
There are many SD individuals, groups and organisations throughout NZ but their efforts are fragmented and (in some cases) misguided. THE most important issue for Generation Y (as the future leaders/inheritors of the world)has to be the sustainable development of NZ and the world. SANZ’s focus is about joining up the dots via the formation of national level “networks” concentrated on what can only be achieved at this collective level. We really need your help and your ideas to implement the following strategies: - Strategy 1 - Regional nodes and networks informing and influencing work of national networks
- Strategy 2 - Establish formative national networks: - SD communication network - Educators for SD network - SD researchers network - Local government officers SD network
- Strategy 3 - Support and facilitate nationwide education for sustainable development (including strong links to NZ UNDESD Advisory Committee and Ministry of Education)
- Strategy 4 - Promotion and consultation on strong sustainability principles and concepts to guide national effort What can we achieve together that we cannot achieve alone?
Exploration of what the opportunities might be……. - to team up
- to collaborate
- to positively influence each other
- to better utilize the SANZ infrastructure
- to have (as a tool for achieving our strategic goals) a more relevant medium for us to interact
